CVS Caremark Corp. is now involved in a class action lawsuit which claims that the company used confidential information to push certain products that would benefit pharmaceutical makers. CVS is the largest provider of prescription drugs in the United States.
The lawsuits allege that the company violated the privacy rights of consumers by pushing the information to promote certain drugs. CVS allegedly identified patients by name, medications taken and their birth date. According to sources, CVS was paid to promote competing drugs.
