A judge ended a class action lawsuit against Duke Energy Corp. for $30 million. The lawsuit claimed that the company violated federal law when it changed its retirement plans.
According to officials close to the case, nearly 20,000 people were involved in the class action suit and it still needs to be calculated how much money each person will receive.
According to the suit, the company allegedly created and adjusted balances and failed to describe the process that they were going to use to do so and that this violated the Employment Retirement Income Security Act of 1974.
